Event Managers
About Action Challenge: Action Challenge organises outdoor challenge events and inspirational adventures in the UK, Europe, and Worldwide for individuals, companies, groups and charities. Our events are usually unforgettable. We specialise in creating unique challenges, and in 2019 over 20,000 people walked, jogged or run on one of our Ultra Challenge events, raising over £7 million for over 400 different UK charities. In 2021 we will be expanding these events to 14 across the year, as we grow and expand the series.
Experience: You will ideally have several years experience working on mass challenge events as Site Manager, or within a role whereby you’ve had direct responsibility for managing a team of people, suppliers and venues.
Role: You will be the lynchpin to one of our busy sites during our Ultra Challenge Event Season in the UK which runs between January and September 2020. Your role is an important one managing both event crew and volunteers (with the help of an Assistant Site Manager) to ensure sites are ready on time and managed effectively throughout the event.
Each site is different and your previous event experience will enable you to manage these smoothly with the support of the rest of your team. You will receive the back-up of a strong logistics team and support crew to help you when needed. Events will generally encompass 3 days - 2 for the actual event and a day to co-ordinate and set up the infrastructure of the site. Shifts will be allocated to all staff however it will be your responsibility to ensure your site is managed throughout the event, especially overnight.
You will need to be a proactive person with a “can do” attitude who is able to remain calm under pressure. It is important that you have a great attention to detail and are able to follow Site Plans and event information clearly.
You will be tasked with managing a variety of different roles over the course of the event from infrastructure set-up to over-seeing timing, information, drop outs, shuttles, staff, catering, and all of the other diverse jobs at our rest stops. Of course none of these jobs would be complete without giving a cheer to our fundraisers who are making their way through our event.
We take pride in the amazing feedback we receive from participants who tell us how well run our events are. We are always striving to improve on our success. Our present team are great! - A large number of them have worked with us for years. We hope you feel you have the experience and skills to join them.
