Join Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity’s team in. Great Ormond Street Hospital provides inspirational and world class care to hundreds of children every day. But we need to raise over £50 million every year to help us save more lives, develop new treatments, build state-of-the-art facilities and support our remarkable patients and their families.

Meet Angela: Angela first came to Great Ormond Street Hospital when she was just three months old.

She was admitted straight to Cardiac Critical Care as her heartbeat and breathing were so erratic. She was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a genetic disease of the heart muscles. It was also discovered that she was born with multiple holes in her heart.

In her short life so far she has had 14 ‘stays’ in hospital and two major operations on her heart to try and stop blood from her heart flooding her lungs. The second operation put a pulmonary artery band in place. It is hoped that her heart will grow stronger and the band will no longer be required.

Angela also has some problems with her gut and has had two operations to help prevent the extreme reflux she suffers from.

She attends outpatient clinics nearly every month to monitor her heart and help treat her reflux. As she grows she will need further operations, to both her gut and her heart at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
