Get Ready for Your Challenge

Booked onto an overseas challenge? You can join our UK training walks for free – and do as many as you like before you fly out for your challenge.

These one-day walks (around 20-25 km) run Spring through Autumn in some of the UK’s most scenic locations, including the South Downs, Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia, the Peak District, and the Lake District. They’re a great way to meet fellow trekkers before your big adventure, get to know some of our challenge leaders, and most importantly to build confidence and fitness on varied terrain.

Bring your own food and water, and we’ll take care of the route and leadership. Each walk follows a loop format, so you finish where you start.

Free Training

Unlimited Preparation for Your Challenge

Our training walks are a relaxed, social way to prepare for your overseas challenge. We meet in the morning for introductions & a briefing, before we then head out on a scenic loop walk of around 20-25 km. Along the way, we’ll take a break for lunch, so bring your own food and water. After the walk, there’s time to hang around for a drink if anyone fancies it before heading home.

The Experience

What to Expect on a Training walk

On an Action Challenge training walk, you’ll be part of a friendly group taking on a day of adventure together – and that’s what makes these walks so rewarding. Meeting new people, sharing the experience, supporting each other along the way, and enjoying those conversations on the trail are all part of what makes our challenges special. These walks are led by experienced members of our team, so you’ll be in safe hands throughout.

Our UK training walks bring like-minded people together in beautiful locations for a day of fresh air, fitness, and fun. They’re all about shared experiences—meeting new faces, enjoying the outdoors, and building confidence for your upcoming challenge. Led by our experienced team, these walks combine great company with expert support, helping you prepare in a fun, social & safe way.

Each training walk route is planned out, with GPX maps available for download. Each route is a loop, so you can drive & park up without having to worry about additional logistics or transfers. There will be set break areas for lunch, and depending on numbers, there will be at least two of our challenge leaders ensuring everyone is supported.
