Summit North Africa's Highest Mountain

An action packed group challenge to the summit of North Africa’s highest peak, Mount Toubkal at 4,167m, with an amazing sense of achievement as you take in the magnificent panoramic views and breathe the rarefied mountain air. With some tough trekking, Berber hospitality, camping, camaraderie, expert guides, sunshine, and a Marrakech celebration – it’s an unforgettable Moroccan adventure!

Day 1 Arrive Marrakech

Everyone will then meet in the hotel lobby at 5pm, so please make sure your flight arrives before this. We will then have a briefing followed by dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 2 TREKKING DAY 1

We start the trekking on a mule path towards Armed, a quaint village built on a glacial moraine. It is approximately a 40 minutes’ walk up the valley from Imlil, and is known as being quieter and seen as more traditional. Leaving the river below, we will continue our ascent until we reach the tiny settlement of Chamharouch, at 2310m. This will provide us with the perfect opportunity to have some lunch, whilst embracing the mountainous surroundings. After lunch, we will continue with our trek into the afternoon, until we reach the base of Mt. Toubkal. This is where we will be setting up camp for the night. The evening will conclude with a group dinner and early night to prepare for reaching the summit tomorrow!

Day 3 TREKKING DAY 2

Summit Day! The day will commence with another early breakfast for our challenging, yet rewarding summit day. We will begin our climb just as the sun starts to rise, wearing head torches and warm layers. We will follow a steep rocky path, zig-zagging our way up, as we ascend 1000 metres over a tough 7 hour trek. As we climb in altitude, the vegetation becomes increasingly sparse, and we may find some remaining snow underfoot. Around midday, after a strenuous climb, we can celebrate as we reach the top of the highest peak in North Africa. The effort is rewarded with superb views, which on a clear day can span the entire Atlas Mountain range. The feeling of pride for making it here will be immense! After a rest break, where we will have the opportunity to soak up the views and take
some photos, we will subsequently begin our descent back down the same route. This is also quite tough, as the trail is steep and rocky. We will catch a glimpse of camp from a distance as we approach and will be presented with a well-earned late lunch when we arrive. We will then have the opportunity to enjoy some free time to rest. As evening approaches, we will have a group dinner in the camp before getting some much-needed sleep.

Day 4 TREKKING DAY 3

Following another nutritious breakfast, we will begin our trek straight from the Toubkal Base Camp. We will make our way back to Imlil where we stop for a picnic lunch. This will be our final group lunch along the trail, so make sure you fully embrace the stunning scenery and traditional architecture. After lunch, we will meet our vehicle which will then transfer us back to our hotel in Marrakech, Hotel Almas. We will have the opportunity to relax in the pool, a popular option for most but also for those who want to explore further, there is a chance to wander around Medina, explore the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, shop in the Souks or visit Les Jardins de la Koutoubia. We will then re-group for a celebratory meal and indulge in delicious Moroccan Tagine. This will be our final evening, so we can share and reflect on our amazing experience. We will then head to our hotel and get some rest for our final night.

Day 5 departure Day

This is our final day waking up in Morocco! The day will begin with a final hotel breakfast. We will then all check-out of the hotel and you will make your own way back to the airport depending on when your flight departs back to the UK.

Booking Your Own Flights

There are a number of low cost airlines that fly into Marrakech from the UK, we recommend aiming for an early morning departure so that you can arrive at the hotel for the afternoon to join the group. Or you could fly out a day (or two!) early, book into our hotel & relax before the trip. Flights we recomend are British Airways (from Heathrow), Easyjet (from Gatwick, Manchester or Luton) or Ryanair (from Stanstead) – these airlines fly daily into Marrakech, and if booked well in advance are reasonable!
